Projects, Projects, Projects

The bracelets above I made for an alchemy bid I won =D. These two best friends wanted special bracelets in their favorite colors: purple and yellow. I thought, it would be perfect to call one bracelet Good Morning and the other bracelet Goodnight! So that is what I did and they loved the idea =). Those are the finished products. They came out so cute.

How has the week been for everyone? Nonstop work for me, as well as stocking on countless supplies for the Pikithins shop XD. I said before I would be closing down the earrings section, but I can't stay away from earrings! I'm glad people are actually interested in buying more earrings, despite the prices. I love you all and thanks for the support there.

Onto another project I have yet to start. Remember the fish table I painted? Well, here is another piece of wood that needs some loving! This cabinet stores my fabric =). I am going to sand it down, stain certain parts of the exterior, and paint the drawers (and rectangles on the side of the cabinet) in color with designs. I'm wondering if I should paint the drawers different colors?

I have a new desk! =D The baby blue table with my sewing machine on top =). The poor machine was sitting in the cabinet behind the chair with no where to go =(. Now it has a home =). The table is actually a computer desk, yet, it looks nothing like one. I use the slide out table it comes with to store my plastic boxes filled with beads and cords. My walls look a little naked. I am planning on hanging some prints. I also have a couple of wooden toys around the room (you can see a small wooden airplane in the corner of the image). See all that yarn? Love it!I'll be using those for my new dolls, hehehe.

Some of you might be wondering what that strange piece is sitting on top of the boxes on the desk (in front of the shade). That is a Robo Dog. I ripped the fur off (which was strange for me to do, but it was an assignment from class) and placed mountains of fabric and paper strips. Now it looks like a paper sculpture XD.

Hi Fred! Heh, that is the doll I bought from ArtTales =). He is sitting on the cabinet in front of the boxes. Me and my storage boxes, pssh...

I'm still tweaking the space every so often.

I also thought I show some more work I've done in the past. This is an illustration based on the Tempest. I used paint, paper cut outs, color pencil, and embroidery floss to create this piece.

This is just a sketch I did in my spare time. Not the clearest scan I've done when importing it XD. I sketch in pen a lot since I am more loose with it then in pencil.

I'm hoping to do a video blog soon once the room looks more complete. I'll keep updates going about my new projects =D! Peace and chicken grease!

Nostalgia

Afternoon everyone =) =waves=. I thought I'd open my closet of goodies and show a work I did about a couple of months ago. This is a Ferris Wheel I built out of dowels, illustration board, and craft paint. It came out really well for it being my first attempt at it, heh. I love this black and white picture. It makes me nostalgic.

Here is a picture of it in full color! I also painted the ground and backdrop displaying a carnival in full swing =). This work is very much inspired by childhood. That's the root of my inspiration in all of the works I do. In my memories of my childhood, there is always a tinge of something foreboding. A black dust that stains a full color memory around the edges. A tarnished piece of jewelry you want to throw out, but keep for sentimentality.

Here is a side view where you can see the seats on the Ferris Wheel. I made and painted those as well. The creatures on the seats are apart of a story I created and resonate with how I think of my childhood. The story here is about a town having fun at a carnival. It comes to a point where people are aghast at seeing the creatures, painted on the Ferris Wheel seats, come to life and attack the children. Child death is gruesome, and I didn't experience it when I was younger, but there's always been this fascination of children making adult decisions in extreme situations. Many of the stories I write usually involve child death or abuse.

A close up of the seats.

You can see the whole painted back drop here of all the carnival rides I can remember riding. I painted some tents in as well, since I am a sucker for booth games and tents serving food =). This is a combination of cut outs too, also very reminiscent of childlike activities. My scissor is my drawing utensil. I feel I can cut (no pun intended haha) to the core of what I feel and mimic that feeling in the pieces I create.

When I work, there's an emptiness I feel that I can't seem to fill. I think it's why many of the pieces I create are intensely colorful, even in my jewelry and card sets. That emptiness is a closed closet I can't get out of, pitch black and cold. The only way I can open the door, even for a few seconds, is to build these pieces that blind me with color. Its a temporary sanctification I do not mind having all the time, because the darkness in the closet is a familiar companion I can sit with.

Touring My Room a Little

Hello =D. Since I've been feeling really, really dizzy lately =(, I decided to take a little break and post a couple of little dolls and crafts I have around my room. The doll above is actually a flat bookmark I made =D. Isn't he cute? The boxes behind him are for storage. I keep some of my fabrics inside. Everything you see in the background are a few things I made out of clay and paper.

This is a different view of the boxes. This time you can see some other dolls I made! The metal wire doll there was the first doll I ever created a couple of years ago. The dolls above are more recent, two or one year ago I think? Hehe. The little blue bird wasn't made by me, I bought that from The Posh Event on etsy.

This is my buddy Ichabod. He's just checking out some of the books...that I have..stacked around the floor >_>. I don't have room for them all! XD.

Now he's chilling with everyone by the window. The girl there is Checkers, Paschul, Maz, and the little guy...I never named him.

That's what my dolls saw yesterday! A freaking winter wonderland. Everything was literally covered in thick blankets of snow. Pure insanity I tell you! I must admit, it was really pretty =).

This is my little fish table =). I found it at a fabric store. Before it was just a dull color of gray, so I decided to fix it up and paint my own design =). The colors look a little weird in this photo. >_> I still love my little table! Sip tea and read a book.

STORY TIME =D!
This is a doll I made based on a Japanese monster. The legend goes that a woman in a white kimono roams the snowy mountains of Japan spiriting away little children. I hand painted the white kimono myself with blue paint. The Kimono took FOREVER to sew XD. You can't see the full affect of the kimono here, but I like this picture a lot. It makes this monster look more alone. Maybe that's what drives her to kidnap children?

Ballooks

Hello all! It has been awhile since I made a new post! I just wanted to give everyone a sneak peek of my new image for the new cards I'm making for the shop! =D This is an illustration I did =). These little creatures are called the Ballooks. I combined the words 'balloons' and 'books' together for the name. Books and balloons are like intimate experiences between an object and a person. Since a card is intimate, I decided to make these creatures to share that experience with the person! The new cards will be in this week with different Ballook creatures as well =).
